About My Work:
I love using my Feather Razors to bring out the best in my clients texture! My specialty is releasing movement in the hair by creating negative space and directional shifts with my razor. I switch between a
Feather Plier Razor and
Feather Styling Razor to bring out the best in my clients texture.
My approach to enhancing waves and movement in the hair is by selecting specific waves and following their pattern with my razor. I alternated the direction of my strokes as I moved down the section, creating pushes and pulls that mimic an S-curve wave. I took smaller sections on the top and used a Feather Styling Razor to really chew into the sections and make a ton of texture on the pixie length top sections. I prefer to use a Styling Razor for this since the surface area I’m working with is so tiny and I don’t want to risk nipping my fingers. For the back, I took larger sections and used more intentional strokes to create negative space in the cut. When it came to the bangs, I approached each peak like a separate 3 dimensional triangle. I take evenly spaced sections throughout the fringe section, pinch it in my fingers and use the tip of my razor to carve each side of the section. I then elevate the section slightly, pinch, and slide my razor across the top of it. To style I always lay down a base hold product, then top it with a sea salt spray and a balm or wax on short bits/hairline pieces. I use old school wet setting techniques (think finger waves) to shape the bangs and ear tendrils before I start diffusing. I walk through this process step by step with my new clients so they can replicate it at home. The end result is effortlessly cool hair that grows out like a dream.
