About My Work:
The cut is inspired by a young Mick Jagger so for Drayden’s transformation I used my
Feather Plier Razor. Starting with his face frame I took a triangular section in the front center; the top of the triangular section starts at the natural curve of his head, the two lower points meeting at his recession. I elevate this triangular section and cut short-to-long until I find the perfect length to accentuate his face shape. This allows me to create softness for the shortest face framing. I then take about 1 inch sections on both sides to the ear. I intentionally disconnect the face frame to create the littles wisps of texture that separate rather than bunch together. As I’m working through these sections I carve out weight to get movement. Once I decide I like the face frame I move to the back nape section to establish the length. I hold my section at zero elevation to create weight and then go in and carve out the wisps to my liking. From this point I bring all of the length down to my guide line and razor it off. Once my length is all cut I move to the top of the head, elevating everything to 180. I carve into my sections before razoring the length of to create volume and movement in the crown and top section. Once I have the crown to the desired length, I connect the crown and nape using a 90 degree angle straight out from the head shape to tie everything together. This gives the cut fluidity and movement from top to bottom. For styling I opted for a hair balm and a light texture spray for hold and hand styled with a diffuser intentionally twisting the wisps I cut so we could see the texture when styled.
