About My Work:
I used the Feather Styling Razor held at various angles to achieve this look. I chose to use the Styling Razor as opposed to scissors as I felt it would deliver a softer, undone texture that would enhance the finish on this shape. The razor also gave me the freedom to work in larger sections of hair, which helped create the stronger triangular silhouette. On the sides I held the razor conventionally and cut each section under my fingers. I wanted a soft edge but still remove as much bulk as efficiently as possible. The angle is reminiscent of a ‘T’ shape with the hair being the lower part of the shape and the razor running parallel at the top. When cutting the triangle section at the crown, I used the razor parallel to the surface of the hair. The razor allowed me to cut this area in two sections on both sides as it is so sharp. This enabled me to visualize the shape I was creating in this area which I found beneficial. With the top zone I took a two-inch-wide profile section and elevated the hair perpendicular to the head. Holding the razor nearer the blade I curved the blade back towards me and up removing the small peak of hair that ran through the centre top of the head, a result of the graduation. I started at the crown and worked forward in finger width sections until I reached the front hairline. To texturize, I worked through the top zone taking around two-inch-wide sections of hair in my fingers.
