This is not your ordinary French braid! Making a thick braid can make hair look fuller and more like an updo. It adds a focal point for the hair as the eyes are drawn to the back of the head all the way down. It works best on long hair, but if open to extensions, this can be anyone’s hairstyle. The braid can be accented with jewels, flowers or hair barrettes for some extra pop.

An updo is a classic hairstyle for any special event or occasion. But why not spruce it up with some flowers or maybe even a succulent? Using plants in the hair gives the style a more romantic, feminine look. It’s best to use real succulents or flowers for the prettiest results, but fake plants can look fine if done well.

Remember the Topsy Tail? The topsy tail was all the rage in the early 1990’s. With the a simple tool that featured a loop at one end and a sectioning tail end, you could create a distinctive look that was difficult to easily achieve without the tool. Today, the Topsy Tail look is used regularly in updos and special occasion hair. It’s often glamorized with curls and hair trinkets (i.e. flowers, jewels, hair pins).
