Undercut Pixie Tutorial with Russell Mayes

In this undercut pixie tutorial, you’ll learn how to do a short undercut with a pixie flair. The undercut pixie is a study in contrasts—sharp structure underneath meets soft movement and separation on top.  In this undercut tutorial, we show the process of simplifying technique while controlling weight and fullness.

Using the Feather Plier Razor, Russell carves seamless, weightless texture into the top, creating a shape that moves effortlessly. The pixie cut undercut—executed with clippers—establishes a foundation of clean, controlled lines that give this cut its edge. Russell also uses Jatai Kyoto Scissors by BMAC to remove extra weight and create pieciness.

Short undercut hairstyles are fun and trendy. Ladies short undercut hairstyles have a lot of versatility in the cut. The undercut short hair can have shaved sides or have longer hair for a softer look. The hair on top can be shorter for more of a pixie look or longer for more of a bob look. The shaved side pixie is a harder, edgier look while leaving longer hair for the undercut will soften the look. While studying hair trends we practice mastering form, understanding movement and crafting a haircut that works with the client’s hair texture and thickness.
