I approached this haircut the same way that I would a precision scissor cut. While cutting the shape I cut the hair by pinching it between my thumb and the blade of my Feather Styling Razor to keep a lot of structure in the shape while still slightly softening the ends. I used the same tool to remove weight where needed with long, soft strokes of the razor. The main feature of this style would be the petals in front of the ears. I overdirect the “sideburn” area to a section above the ear to aggressively layer that area. Whether a pixie, shag or mod cut, I always try to include some petal pieces. Even though I’m not the only one, I like to think of them as my signature because I am obsessed with petals. The key to any style with lots of weight removal and texturizing is to get very visual at the end. I like to start with a strong, precise shape and then remove weight where it feels right after it is dry and styled. This idea was hard for me at first because I want there to be a right or wrong answer to a problem, but with this process it is about getting comfortable with seeing something and adjusting it based on how you feel about it.
