About My Work:
The fun Bowie Mullet that I created on Tess was a
David Bowie-inspired Ziggy Stardust mullet. Overall, I wanted to maintain length while removing weight, as well as create separation for easy styling. I used my Feather Plier razor to achieve the look, creating lots of texture, movement and layers to hang softly over the front and back including blunt cut bangs or fringe. Using an open blade, I moved in with large strokes to cut in even more texture and softness, always striving to maintain a look of length at the front, sides and back. My razor cutting technique at the back also preserved that same look of length for layers at the bottom, while cutting shorter, flatter layers in the section above to accentuate the head shape. I created a deliberate ‘disconnect’ of the sides to allow for separation between front and back, yet married the look of all the layers with shape and softness.
