About My Work:
This soft, lived-in shag was cut using a
Feather Plier Razor for ultimate ease and longevity. I used the razor to both create the layers, establish the overall shape and also to remove weight and create movement. I used longer/wider strokes for the face framing to create a loose and airy feel to the layers. For the fringe I went in with shorter strokes to create the shape, combined with slicing through for weight removal. I continue to free hand carve out bits in the bangs until I got the perfectly piece-y look I was after. I hand styled this look using a light texture and enhancing product. The goal for most of my haircuts is to support a wash-and-go lifestyle – shapes that get better as you wear them in.
The
Feather Plier Razor is my favorite tool because it creates a softness and organic movement that not only makes air drying easy and ideal, but also gives longevity to the cut. The straight razor allows the hair to grow out with intentionality, maintaining a beautiful shape as it grows. While scissors have their place, the Plier razor allows you to work with the hair and its natural texture in an intuitive way.
