JATAI joins beauty industry leaders to bring holiday beauty to adults with developmental disabilities at St. Madeleine Sophie's Center, San Diego

Professional beauty industry leaders donated their own special brand of beauty over the holidays to the 380 adults with developmental disabilities who attend St. Madeleine Sophie's Center (SMSC). A day training center for job training and life skills in San Diego (www.stmsc.org), St. Madeleine's conducted a special fundraising effort where all donations could be doubled or 'matched', thanks to a generous private donor. Professional beauty industry member and SMSC Board member Sharon Esche-Irving reached out to industry associates who rallied over the holidays to support these adults with special needs by donating to this matching fund.

Jatai International reports that the Seki Edge 'Smart Tweeze'has received the distinguished 'Good Design' Award from the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO).

The annual Good Design Awards were established in Japan in 1957 by the former Ministry of Interna-tional Trade and Industry (currently the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry). According to JIDPO, about 70 respected design experts screen and select the most worthy design submissions. The Good Design Awards is a system that 'aims to channel the eminent powers of distinctive designs to build prosperous lives and encourage sound industrial development'. It is ultimately 'a campaign to brighten and enrich society through design'.
